The weather may not be up to much, but don’t let it put you off embracing the hottest makeup trends this summer!

Colour Pop

This summer, makeup is all about embracing bright, bold hues in singular areas, whilst welcoming a palette of natural, neutral shades elsewhere. This look will really work with a fake tan as the brightest shades glow at their best on sun-kissed skin.

Effortlessly ensure your complexion is looking flawless by sweeping the lightweight, mineral infused lavera Natural Liquid Foundation, £11.90 over your cheeks, forehead, nose and chin, using your fingertips to gently blend.

Nourishing organic Argan Oil and Blossom Butter will nourish and protect your skin, while delivering a youthful and bright glow.

Next pack a colour punch, and for those ladies with olive to dark skin tones choose a bold aqua blue eyeshadow such as Illamasqua in Suck, £15.50. Sweep this eye-catching colour over the lid and finish with lashings of black mascara for a show-stopping look.

For those with English-Rose complexions, opt for lilac hues which have made a huge impact this season. I love the Mac eyeshadow in Beautiful Iris, £12. Remember to leave your cheeks and lips neutral to balance the bold colour for an on-trend look.

Accessorise your summer look with a fabulous statement such as a gold necklace from Made, £55. This hand crafted piece can easily vamp up a casual day time look by the pool, alternatively wear it in the evening for instant style points.

Stained Lips

Pair a barely-there complexion with a stained, blushed pout. This season, models were sent down the runway with matte stained lips for a fresh and flirty look, perfect for hot summer days.

Start by prepping your lips with a creamy lip balm to sooth and protect lips for a luscious looking pout. I like the None of your Beeswax lipbalm from Lush, £5.25 which is made from fresh lemon, extra virgin coconut oil and carnauba wax to moisturise lips with a tasty vanilla and mandarin flavour.

Next, smooth on Laura Mercier Lip Stain Lip Shine, £16.50 to achieve a sheer touch of colour. The non-drying formulation provides the visual effect of a stain with the comfort and sheen of a lip gloss, creating a look of understated sophistication. In the day, use the shades Shy Pink or Peach Glaze depending on your skin tone for a subtle, ‘just-kissed’ look.

For the evening, opt for the Mocha for a wine-stained pout with a richer finish. These stains are perfect for your holiday as they provide sweat-proof, water-resistant longevity!

Perfect your Summer look by finishing with a pair of statement stud earrings such as Pave Ball Stud Earrings, £29 from Ted Baker in either gold or silver to radiant style and finesse!

Oh So Shiny Metallics

Metallic tones are a huge trend this summer, with the likes of Emilio Pucci aand Georgia Armani demonstrating this as the perfect look to see you through the warmer months.

Keep your lips and skin neutral whilst rocking metallic hues on your eye lids for a sexy, night time look. Keep your eyes peeled for warm copper shades and soft smoky tones if you have a warm skin tone.

I recommend the Vani-T Mineral Colour Crystals in Starlight Gold, £23 to add warmth and eye-catching sparkle to your eyes.

For those with cool skin tones choose high shine silvers and ice cool metallic shades such as Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow in Ice Blue and Rock Star, £15.50.

Blend the shade over the eyelids and add depth to the eye by blending a darker metallic shade into the crease. Finish with two coats of Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara £18.50 for extra definition and fluttering gorgeous lashes.

Keep your jewellery minimal with this trend and choose a chunky cuff such as the Roma Cuff Bracelet from Aspinal of London, £125.
