Oooo chocolate lovers, look out! Master Chocolatier, Paul A Young has created an exclusive chocolate inspired Afternoon Tea at Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel.

Set to launch on Monday 14 April in the Park Room (and run for at least a month) it’s basically several slices of heaven on a plate.

I was invited to try out this decadent treat, ahead of its launch, and am sat here typing this several hours later still feeling rather stuffed.

There were (still warm! *Swoon*) freshly baked Buttermilk scones served with Devonshire clotted cream and – in place of the usual (yawn) jams – Paul A Young’s award-winning Sea Salted Caramel spread.

Yep, that’s right. A Sea Salted Caramel spread. It. Was. Lush.

I enjoyed mine alongside a glass of Louis Roederer, Carte Blanche (chocolate and Champagne. How jolly, hey?) And a selection of rather super sandwiches elegantly balanced Paul’s chocolate creations (Oh hello Earl Grey Tea Chocolate Tart) with the more traditional.

That said, the cucumber and chocolate sandwich was an unexpectedly lovely touch.

I’ve never had Madagascan coco nib tea before, but as the wind started to whip outside it was the perfect warming tonic. (I must add here, I am not a tea lover. Those of you who like a good strong brew may not be a fan, but for me the chocolately overtones were all it took to have me singing its praises.)

With Easter drawing ever nearer this is sure to delight any chocolate lover in your life. Just don’t expect them to be able to move very far once they’ve finished…

Paul A Young Chocolate Inspired Afternoon Tea costs £39.50 per person and is available from 1pm – 6pm in The Park Room at Grosvenor House, from April 14. For book go to: www.parkroom.co.uk

Want more chocolate? The “Paul A Young Adventures with Chocolate Package” includes an overnight stay with breakfast for two, Afternoon tea for two, a signed copy of Paul’s award-winning ‘Adventure’s with Chocolate’ book to take home and a surprise chocolate treat during your stay is also available from Monday 14 April. Rates start from £444 per night inc. VAT. To book go to: www.londongrosvenorhouse.co.uk.
