For 50 years, the City of London Festival (24 June to 27 July) has brought some of the world's best musicians and performers to the capital's most iconic locations. To celebrate the festival's Golden Jubilee, the organisers are staging their most exciting programme yet, with over 150 events in 55 spectacular London venues – including many stunning historic livery halls usually closed to the public. Highlights range from dozens of free outdoor concerts to a landmark piece performed by English National Ballet in St Paul's Cathedral.

CITY OF LONDON FESTIVAL GOLDEN PRIZE (13 JULY)

Tickets to see the fabulous Percussions Claviers de Lyon at the Bishopsgate Institute. Five creative keyboard percussionists from France will play a night of Debussy and Debussy-themed music.

  • Golden City cocktails at Eastway and a festival-themed meal at the exquisite 1901 Restaurant at Andaz Liverpool Street hotel before or after the concert.

  • A pair of tickets to Tasmin Little and Martin Roscoe (Plaisterers' Hall, 11 July); violin virtuoso plays popular pieces in this splendid livery hall.
  • A pair of tickets to Jan Garbarek and The Hilliard Ensemble (St Paul's Cathedral, 12 July); sit under the dome of the impressive icon and be mesmerised by a jazz legend and world-class vocalists.
