WHAT: Lincoln Christmas Market. The market is returning for its 33rd time since beginning in 1982, welcoming more than 250,000 visitors every year to its 280 stalls packed with seasonal treats.

WHAT: Hay Festival Winter Weekend. This year the 16th edition of the Hay Festival Winter Weekend will mark the start of advent in Hay. It promises to be a weekend of 'wondrous stories and roaring fires, great investigation, rigorous debate and great company'.

WHAT: The North Pole Christmas Festival. The annual festival in the heart of Cambridge city centre offers a stunning 600m open-air ice rink, live music and a wide range of festive snacks.
