Written by Good Hotel Guide
Spring is in the air and alongside the blossom blooms romance, proposals and wedding plans. Chief amongst all the detailed decisions is choosing a venue - it's the basis of numbers, style and photographic backdrop. When it comes to weddings, hotels provide a ready made support system for planning, it's just a question of choosing one to suit you. So, here are 10 favourite hotel wedding venues recommended by the Good Hotel Guide

Hartwell House, Aylesbury

Extravagantly furnished, this former home of Louis XVIII of France is a prime example of a country estate. Surrounded by abundant spring flowers with an in-house wedding planner and award-winning food and wines, it is a glamorous place to host a wedding whether it's a small private civil ceremony, a wedding breakfast or a larger exclusive wedding with marquee.

Hambleton Hall, Rutland

A classy country hotel overlooking Rutland Water, Hambleton Hall is a former 19th-century hunting lodge and a haven of luxury. Spacious and decadent, they are no strangers to weddings, with a variety of spaces for a ceremony including the Private Dining Room, The Study, The Restaurant and the Croquet Suite with a maximum capacity of 60 people.

Chewton Glen, New Milton

If there's an award to be won then Chewton Glen probably has it. A beautiful country house with contemporary spa facilities and modern luxuries, it's got 50 years of experience under its belt so the five star destination has thought of everything before you even arrive, making it easy to get in touch with their wedding planner and simply enjoy the process.

Middlethorpe Hall, York

Spacious and secluded, set amongst the most spectacular tranquil gardens, Middlethorpe Hall is owned by the National Trust and is all fire-lit halls and beautifully furnished rooms. In 20 acres of gardens, the hotel has a number of areas within the grounds that make for enchanting wedding locations, from the 18th century Dovecote to the intimate Yellow Room, accommodating up to 56 seated guests. Personally we're fans of photos in the fragrant rose and lavender garden.

Trigony House, Thornhill

Surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, Trigony House is a welcoming country house hotel that combines comfortable luxury with excellent hospitality. In an idyllic spot in Dumfries and Galloway, it offers award-winning food and a real sense of romance but with a happy feeling of informality for a relaxed and joyful wedding day.

Congham Hall, King's Lynn

Food is an important part of the experience at Congham Hall, where the herb garden plays a role in every dish thanks to more than 400 varieties that grow there. Understated and utterly charming, this King's Lynn hotel caters for everything you need without being fussy. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for, and when it comes to weddings they can host small groups of 18 people in the Writing Room or up to 100 people in the Restaurant with 26 bedrooms to stay in afterwards.
Seaham Hall, Seaham

A spectacular example of how to update a historic building, Seaham Hall has a rich history and an abundance of art and style within its walls. Perched on a clifftop on the Durham coastline it has the best of all worlds, and as such is an immaculate wedding location with imaginative menus, and a number of event spaces depending on the size of occasion you would like.

Borrowdale Gates, Grange-in-Borrowdale

Surrounded by woodland overlooking the Borrowdale valley, Borrowdale Gates is a friendly hotel with superb food set against a magical backdrop. With four stars to its name the whole place will take up to 75 guests for private hire and with the fells of High Spy, Maiden Moor and Catbells in the background, the pictures are guaranteed to be awe-inspiring.

Calcot Manor, Tetbury

With white glove service at every turn, this 14th-century farmhouse is a glorious celebration of spectacular luxury and warmth in one. Rooms are simultaneously modern and rustic, nothing is too much trouble and it's entirely family friendly. So with that in mind, you can imagine the beauty with which they execute weddings at Calcot Manor. Wedding take place in the Barn set alongside a courtyard of lime trees and built by Cistercian monks, and you can choose from the Abbey Suite for up to 90 guests, the Thomas Suite for up to 100 guests or the full barn for 150 people.

Moonfleet Manor, Fleet

A Georgian manor house in Dorset with lots of things to do and see for children and visiting families, Moonfleet Manor is set amongst beautiful countryside and has an easy 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. Whether you're hosting 20 or 120 guests they have the right space for a glamorous occasion with waterside views, but with minimum fuss, so it's a great option for those who want to enjoy the journey in the hands of the experts.

Augill Castle, Kirkby Stephen

Who wouldn't want to get married in a fairytale castle? Augill Castle in Cumbria is an enchanting world of log fires, huge four-poster beds, turrets and chesterfields, and whether you have your wedding amongst the spring bluebells or the winter snow, it remains an enchanting environment. While yore there, it's your castle, sleeping up to 30 guests in 15 rooms, up to 46 for a seated banquet and up to 60 for a stand up occasion.
