Father’s Day Gift Ideas (that even the Mothers will love)

Written by Kate Beavis
It is Father's Day here in the UK on Sunday 18th June and if you are anything like me, you will find it hard to find presents that a) he actually wants and b) I will like in my home. So, ditch the World's Best Dad mug and slippers combo this year and choose something with a modern vintage aesthetic.

Dress to Impress
Gent's accessories finish off any outfit especially if your dad is a dapper dude. For the fans of the 1940s, how about a pair of rhodium plated spitfire cufflinks or even button down braces in a lovely blue stripe. For a bit of fun, buy him a pair of sock garters in navy or burgundy; fully adjustable, these will ensure his socks are always pulled up! Alternatively, why not treat him with a leather satchel which has the right mix of practicality and function with backpack straps, top carry handle and easy-to-open magnetic fastenings.
Enjoy a tipple
Stock up your cocktail cabinet with UK produced alcohol; all offering something a little different from the usual brands. This Rock Rose gin created in the wilderness of the far North of Scotland where the botanicals are hand foraged on the cliffs and forest makes a truly unique gin; and with a bottle this beautiful he won't be hiding it away. Gin not his thing? Then this Holy Grass vodka in an equally stunning bottle will hit the spot. Or how about some craft ale with a personalised label? This Cornish Beer by St Austell Brewery's can be delivered with his name on and a fun message.
Go Outdoors
If your dad loves the great outdoors, then choose gifts that he can take out with him. This vintage unused lunch box can be taken to work or out to watch the football and its bright lid will brighten up his day; it is a one off so at least no one else on the side line will have one! Maybe a vintage motorist lantern for when he goes camping or out in his classic car (it even has a red flashing light on the top) or vintage oil cans for his garage. Even if he doesn't use them, they will always look great on the shelf.

Or Stay inside
If he isn't the outdoors type and prefers to watch his sport from the comfort of the sofa, get him a cushion with a vintage sporting image on such as tennis, the boat race or even motor racing. Or for the readers out there, a book documenting the history of men's fashion will conjur up so many memories of his childhood and even of his own father.

Just for fun
Ok novelty slippers are fun, so if it is a laugh you want how about giving him some interesting vintage items such as original Ladybird book. These "How It Works" books will keep him interested for hours! This glass pinball panel will take him right back to playing in the arcades in the 1980s!
