TOP TIPS TO BRING FLORAL INTO YOUR HOME

Linda Barker is supporting World Vision's #FloralFriday campaign, for which the aid agency is asking supporters to wear something floral on July 10th. But why stop at your wardrobe?

Written by Linda Barker
This year there's every opportunity to bring the garden into your home with leaf and floral prints appearing on everything from sofas to wall hangings. And harnessing the power of flowers doesn't mean your home has to be more chintz than chic, says Linda.

Hanging gardens
You can't beat fresh flowers to add colour and scent to a home. But for added impact, create a 'living wall'. Woolly Pockets are a range of soft, felt containers made from recycled plastic bottles that allow you to create vibrant floral displays indoors that look more like art than foliage.

Mix it up
Homeowners tend to stick to solid blocks of colour when decorating, but using pattern can make a room come alive. If you want a stunning scheme that includes flowers, why not try mixing it up with polka dots and stripes on sofas, cushions and rugs? The key is to stick to one colour palette.

Wild walls
If you prefer a very modern aesthetic don't dismiss wallpaper as something for your grandmother's generation. Opt for bold, graphic designs such as those pioneered by Jocelyn Warner for large-scale florals on the walls.

Delectable dining

The beauty of flowers is that they look amazing anywhere and never go out of fashion. Portmeirion have striking dinnerware. A favourite is their Crazy Daisy range. The bright contemporary design is fresh and funky. Use it on its own or mix with simple white china.

Get crafty with flowers
Make a stunning origami floral ornament to hang in your home or garden. Not only will you create something unique but you can encourage friends and kids to join in the fun of creating as I did with the amazing Cambodian kids pictured.
