Lynda Bellingham Diagnosed with cancer
Actress and presenter Lynda Bellingham has been diagnosed with cancer although no further details of her condition have been reported. The BBC said that the 65 year old, who is famous for her appearances on Loose Women and in the Oxo TV adverts, has been forced to postpone a theatre tour of Kay Mellor's, A Passionate Woman that was due to start in September, while she undergoes treatment. In a statement reported by the BBC, Bellingham said, "I'm devastated not to be able to honour my commitments to the play this year, but having toured many times before, I'm aware of the sheer stamina needed and I need to prioritise my recovery." Mother-of-two Bellingham, who appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing four years ago, has been a high-profile supporter of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support since her sister Barbara died from lung cancer.

New Neptune Moon discovered
It has been confirmed that Nasa's Hubble telescope has discovered a new moon orbiting Neptune which appears to be the smallest moon in the Neptunian system, measuring just 20 km (12 miles) across, completing one revolution around Neptune every 23 hours. It is so small that the Voyager spacecraft failed to spot it when it passed close by Neptune and surveyed the planet's system of moons and rings in 1989. Designated S/2004 N 1, it is the 14th known moon to circle Neptune. US astronomer Mark Showalter discovered the tiny dot while studying segments of rings around the giant planet.

BBC to launch five new HD channels
The BBC has recently revealed that it plans to launch five new high definition channels by the start of 2014. The new channels will include HD versions of BBC News, BBC Three, BBC Four, CBeebies and also CBBC. They will be accessible over rooftop aerials via Freeview receivers and also as satellite and cable services. This announcement coincides with regulator Ofcom announcing that it is making it possible to launch 10 new HD channels using airwaves that have been freed up by the switch off of analogue TV. The BBC's director general Tony Hall said: "BBC One HD and BBC Two HD have already proved to be highly valued by our audiences and I'm delighted that we're able to follow this with the launch of five new subscription-free BBC HD channels by early 2014".

Prime Minister makes mistake on Twitter
David Cameron fell victim to a Twitter spoof this Monday when he sent a message to the wrong person. He meant to link his message, ""@IDS_MP and I are determined to make work pay and help the UK compete on the #GlobalRace" to the account of Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith, the minister behind the new limits on benefit payments, who doesn't actually appear to have a Twitter account. However Cameron's link was actually sent to a spoof page that sardonically jokes about the high price of foie gras and champagne. One message said: I've always supported a mansion tax. Your tax buys my mansion. Chin chin!" The Prime Minister's official spokesman made a joke of the mistake by suggesting that it could be summed up with the Twitter hashtag: #onetotakeonthechin.

Heatwave to continue around the country
Forecasters say that the recent heatwave is set to continue for another week, at least. The BBC weather centre reported that conditions would become more unsettled in northern areas towards the end of July, with the south enjoying warm weather for longer. There have been current delays at London Waterloo train station, with some of the trains being cancelled because the heat has caused some areas of the rail to buckle. Network Rail, which introduced a speed limit near the station last week due to high trackside temperatures, has closed platforms one to four at Waterloo and have said that "engineers are on site". On Sunday a section of the M25 was closed after the road melted, causing disruption to many motorists.
