Tour de France update
Today, the peloton of the Tour de France begins a third leg from Cambridge to London. The cyclists will be passing notable Cambridge Colleges, such as St John's and Trinity. The tour will be arriving at The Mall after passing famous London landmarks such as Tower Bridge and Big Ben. The stage is one of the shortest at just 155km, and is likely to be cycled in under three-and-a-half hours. Marcel Kittel, who won the opening stage, has been tipped as a favourite to do well on this leg. The finish brings back memories of the London 2012 Olympics, as the cycle race also finished in The Mall's iconic setting. In 2007 more than a million people lined the London route, and Transport for London has warned that there will be significant disruption due to road closures in central London.

Sea Horse Fountain at Chatsworth undergoes restoration
Chatsworth House in Derbyshire will take on a different look this summer as the Sea Horse Fountain on the South Lawn is temporarily removed for restoration. Chinese artist Xu Bing's sculpture entitled 'Tao Hua Yuan: A Lost Village' is a diverse multimedia natural rock installation, and the exhibition by Sotheby's will run from 8 September until 26 October, after a visit from the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh this Thursday. This is the first time the Sea Horse fountain has been removed since it was erected over 300 years ago. A poll was conducted earlier this year by Visit Britain, revealing that Chatsworth House is the second most popular destination for Chinese tourists, and a link can be drawn to the choice of Chinese art which has just been installed.

Victory for Djokovic
After a nail biting five set match, Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the men's final at Wimbledon to win his seventh Grand Slam title. In a post match interview, the 27 year old Serbian exclaimed 'It's the most special Grand Slam final I've played', and the athlete dedicated his match to his pregnant fiancé Jelena and late coach J.Gencic. This was Djokovic's second win at Wimbledon, having previously beaten Rafael Nadal in 2011. Federer has climbed his way back up to No.3 men's singles ranking, and Djokovic has regained his position at No.1. This concludes the championship at the All England Club, which as ever has proved to be a tournament of shocks and surprises with top ranked players being defeated in the earlier rounds.

New singles chart rules
Last month the Offical Charts Company announced that songs played on streaming services such as Spotify will count towards the singles chart. Martin Talbot, Managing Director of the Official Charts Company exclaimed that the change was 'about future proofing the charts'. The move means that artists whose songs who have not been downloaded but have been streamed will be more fairly represented in the charts. However, Talbot commented himself that it is unlikely to make a drastic change to the positions of artists at the top of the chart. Singer-songwriter Ariana Grande topped the new combined chart yesterday, with her song 'Problem' with streaming of 712,481.

Mountain village for sale on eBay
An Alpine village has gone up for sale on eBay, situated just outside the Italian national park of Gran Paradiso, the first Italian national park as of 1922. The village has a starting price of €245,000 or £195,000. The village of Calsazio is located just 30 miles from Turin, and consists of 14 houses and around 50 outbuildings. The village seems relatively well priced, however a restoration which is desired and supported by the UNCEM (National Union of Mountain Communities) would cost hundreds of thousands of pounds due to the fact the buildings must retain their original architectural features. It is hoped that buildings would be redeveloped to a high standard and that the area would become a tourist attraction consisting of bars and restaurants nestled among the picturesque scenery.
