We scour the news so you don't have to

Is Lord Grantham to lose his best friend?
Is Lord Grantham's canine companion set to retire from her glamorous life as the Earl of Grantham's best friend? Isis, whose unfortunate name has done nothing to waiver the audience's affection for the dog, has been a constant figure on the show since its first episode five seasons ago. Isis has participated in many of the shows' pivotal moments over the seasons. From being kidnapped by the shows' resident bad boy, Thomas, to the star of the first frame of the shows' credits, Isis has brought a wholesome and down to earth quality to the show. Last nights' episode revealed that Isis has cancer and is about to die. Isis's departure from the show will sadden many.

Moscow's modern library
Moscow has established a new way of making the works of some of the world's greatest authors available to all. When travelling on the metro passengers are now able to download over 100 classical books, including works by authors such as Pushkin, Chekov and Tolstoy. This is currently in the trial phase but will hopefully soon be available at all of Moscow's metro stations. Passengers only have to scan a barcode available on the platform onto a mobile device, such as a tablet, to be able to access this amazing resource! London underground please take note!

Notre Dame de Lorette – a monument to Peace
Notre Dame de Lorette is France's newest monument to honour those who died in the First World War in northern France. The memorial lists the 580,000 names of whose who died in northern France during the Great War. Northern France has many monuments honouring those who died; however, Notre Dame de Lorette has been erected as a symbol of peace between the countries that came to blows in the war as well as to honour those who died. Designed by Parisian architect Philippe Prost, Notre Dame de Lorette gives the landscape a new focus - peace between countries and an indication as to how far international politics have progressed since the Great War.

Japan produces a world class whisky
Japan is to be congratulated as it celebrates its production of a world class whisky. Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 has been named the world's best Whiskey by the World by the Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2015 edition. A bottle of the Yamazki Whiskey can be purchased for £100 in the United Kingdom at selected Whiskey retailers. Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 was produced by Japans oldest distillery which was founded in 1923. Whiskey has also made headlines recently due to David Beckham's new offering to the Whisky industry, Haig Club.

Forgotten images
New photographs have come to light detailing the harrowing life of children living below the poverty line in London during the beginning of the last century. These photographs graphically display the horrors of such an existence, affording one the opportunity to see how difficult a life they lead. From the rags they are wearing in the images to their daily manual chores, the photographs are a gripping reminder of the truth behind Charles Dickens's words. The Photographers name was Horace Warner who was passionate about advertising these children's conditions in order to gain some support and funding for them.

In contrast other images to have surfaced recently show Napoleonic soldiers in their Imperial uniforms. These images are well worth a look, as part of Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection at Brown University in America, they show veterans from the Napoleonic Wars (1803–1815) dressed in their battle uniforms. The soldiers in the pictures show the glamour and pride that the soldiers felt for their uniform and rank.
