4 Ways to Wear Vintage Style This Party Season

Written by Kate Beavis
Embracing a vintage style for the festive party season means three things – you will stand out from the crowd, no one else will be wearing it and you will have tonnes of fun getting your outfit together. But of course, you want to stand out for the right reasons so here are four outfits based on four decades of the early 20th century that ooze glamour without looking like you are wearing fancy dress.

The 1920s Look
Get the flapper look without all the fringing with this sophisticated yet fun velvet dress in a stunning blue. Velvet is on trend this season; it is soft and luxurious which is perfect for a party look. Plus, the shorter length means you can dance the night away!

Team up with T bar metallic party shoes, a long vintage necklace and a vintage chainmail evening bag. Cover up with a matching velvet vintage coat in rich berry colours.

The 1930s Look
Embrace some Hollywood glamour with more velvet but this time in a full length "movie star" dress. The 1930s shape was cut on the bias creating a flattering look that accentuates your curves as it softly drapes over them. This red one will be sure to create some WOW at the office party!

Choose silver shoes to coordinate with the art deco style clasp, and this stunning French 1930s vintage bracelet. Create some extra glamour with a vintage cape.

The 1950s Look
The wiggle dress was first seen in the 1950s; a fitted style with the hemline tapering in so you need to embrace your inner Marilyn Monroe and wiggle when you walk. Choose a gold version to embrace your inner sass and look festive without looking like tinsel!

Choose a gold shoe with a good height heel, vintage jewels, and accessories in metallic shades with an optional Babycham!

The 1960s Look
Dresses didn't just go short in the 1960s; women also wore fitted dresses with high necklines and long sleeves. This emerald lace dress is based on one worn by Brigitte Bardot, and is the perfect party dress suitable for all ages.

Wear this dress with cute green shoes and vintage drop earrings such as these gold confetti ones.

Whichever era you choose, remember to add the finishing touches of dark eyes and a strong lip colour and maybe a vintage hairstyle too. Have fun, be confident and we promise that you will look fabulous.
