The image of Marilyn Monroe in a white halter dress standing above a subway grate with her frock billowing up in the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch has become synonymous with sex-symbol style.
But as these stunning snaps show, Norma Jeane was just as chic off set. As comfortable in cigarette pants and printed shirts as she was in figure-hugging pencil dresses and diamonds, it’s no wonder that 50 years on from her death her look is still so emulated.
