SIREN STYLE

She famously only wore Chanel No5 to bed – and Marilyn Monroe’s look is as iconic as ever, says Katy Pearson

The image of Marilyn Monroe in a white halter dress standing above a subway grate with her frock billowing up in the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch has become synonymous with sex-symbol style.

But as these stunning snaps show, Norma Jeane was just as chic off set. As comfortable in cigarette pants and printed shirts as she was in figure-hugging pencil dresses and diamonds, it’s no wonder that 50 years on from her death her look is still so emulated.

So remember her today with a Monroe moment of your own…

Marilyn Remembered by Cindy De La Hoz is published by Carlton, priced £36.
