Everyone has heard of a traditional afternoon tea. The cakes, sandwiches, scones and cream are essential but what about an afternoon tea with a twist? (quite literally!)

K West hotel, a boutique hotel, spa and restaurant located in West London has recently launched Glam Rock afternoon tea complete with tea-infused cocktails. I always go for a traditional afternoon tea so arriving at the chic hotel I was in anticipation at trying a new style.

This style of tea derives from the hotel being located at the site of the BBC's previous recording studio, so it has seen many musical stars pass through its doors including greats such as David Bowie and The Kinks.

I loved the playful and stylish look of the menu which came out in a record player and the cocktails were served in iridescent teacups, which I swiftly named unicorn cups!

The first course arrived which was slider style sandwiches, all of which had different types of cheese in. Luckily I am a cheese fan so it was good for me and I particularly loved the grape and brie ones! Then came the ‘rolling scones.’ These were blueberry scones with clotted cream and jam which I couldn’t help but have two of (My excuse? I hadn’t quite got the taste so needed another!) It was accompanied by strawberry and watermelon slushies, a selection of macarons, sorbet cones and white chocolate mini cheesecake bowls. There is also the added option of Prosecco should it take your fancy.

After two rounds of sandwiches and scones, I was feeling quite full but made a little room for the fancy desserts which were picture perfect to look at. The quirky tableware and way it was served made it even more fun, and yes I had to try and spin the sandwiches on the record player! You can also choose from a wide range of teas but I went traditional and drank English breakfast (it never goes out of fashion).

The K West is a stones throw from Shepherds Bush, near Westfield shopping centre and a 10 minute underground ride from central London. I liked that it is away from the hustle and bustle and in a quiet spot, but is just moments away from being close to central London.

A lovely afternoon of relaxation and indulging, perfect for friends and couples alike.
